OMG Wondercon Starts on FRIDAY… *panic*
This coming week is a flurry of merchandise preparation, finding paper work, organizing, re-organizing, freeking out, calming down… and in the middle of all that, I STILL need draw the Wondercon Exclusive Con-comic…
Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been putting up the PDQ Archive on my DeviantArt, even though there’s a new PDQ for you for free every Monday (which… by the way… happens to be today.) I’ve been doing it because I want the PDQs to be as accessible as possible to you all. Besides, if you have a DA account, now you can actually pick out your favorites! I’m also doing it to get back into the habit of posting art every day, even if it’s old stuff… because as soon as I’m done, you’re going to be seeing more regular art from me, too.
On a final note for today, I saw this little thing on DA on Friday, and thought it was fantastic. I’m chomping at the bit to try my hand at it, myself… sooooon…
I promise to send you a news post for friday… it’ll be fantastic.
True story! Ok, so I put Rossi in my shoes, and changed who I was calling and what it was about… and maybe a little bit of what was said…
but it’s 100% bona-fide true!
Honest!
Remember! New PDQ today, with no need to vote! So show me some love and tell a friend to start reading!
And now, on to the important stuff:
Those of you who are vaguely close to San Francisco should come visit me and the Katgirl at WONDERCON. We’ve got a table in Artist’s Alley (table AA041). She’s debuting her Wearable Art jewelry line and I’m Debuting some original art, some prints, and some Awesome Cool Threads, among other things (pics coming soon). That’s all in addition to a Con-exclusive comic for FREE! It’s only $15 at the door to get in for a whole day.
Wondercon is Friday, Feb 27 through Sunday, March 1
See you there!
Sorry for the late update folks! I’m deep in preparation for Wondercon which is really throwing me off my game.
Stay tuned for more information… SOON… And read the post below about what happened to the PDQs…
Cheers!

Way back on July 14 of last year, I put up a pretty lengthy rant about professionalism of free internet services and the level of commitment that Top Web Comics and BuzzComix seems to be willing to put forth.
If you recall, I had been using TWC until about July 11th or so… they also had an extended period of non-functionality. They returned, but not before I had gotten so irritated that I dumped the link and stopped using the service.
Now Buzzcomix is having an even longer period of non-functionality, and while I feel I’ve had quite a bit of patience with this service, I have to admit that my patience is at an end. My biggest struggle was I had realized that if I’m not using any voting incentive, then I’d have to put up a second page or even a whole different site for the PDQs. That led me to a number of questions: How much work did I really want to put into PDQs? Are they popular enough to run on their own? What if they overwhelm HHFM in popularity? Will this overwhelm Webmonkey Ben with website needs? What if the gravity of this decision draws a meteor in from deep space, and it lands on the hosting server??
After a lot of fretting, I finally realized that it all came down to these questions, and their subsequent answers:
Do I enjoy doing the PDQs? —Yes, I do.
Does the effort and stress of using someone else’s site and providing them with traffic justify my continued patronage if they don’t actually respect their customers? —No, it does not.
Is there enough traffic to the PDQs to justify the effort of putting up a whole separate page for them? —Yes, it does.
So here it is. PDQs get their own page. No more entreaties from me to vote for them, no more waiting for Buzzcomix or TWC to get their crap together, no more praying that they will actually stay up from week to week. Just go and read them. For the moment, we’re using the HHFM template for the PDQs, but we’ll eventually get unique page design for the PDQs.
Enjoy.
