That’s what wingmen are for, right? You have to kind of wonder why Rossi doesn’t seem interested in a pretty girl…
I’ve been going crazy getting ready for a Renaissance Faire in Sacramento, CA. I’ll take some pictures and share them with you come next week. Also, I think I’m going to be a little late getting the major art piece done this month. (SORRY!)
Hey folks, I apologize for not getting a news post up on Monday and up late on Wednesday. You’d think that I was more on top of things, what with the volume that I’m currently producing. Still, while I’d like to think that you all come here to read my brilliant, compelling commentary, I know you just come here for the laughs. This week marks the beginning of a long arc where we finally introduce Elise, a 3rd character to our rather claustrophobic cast.
This week, HHFM has been floating somewhere just below 200 on TWC. At the moment I’m writing this, the link (and TWC) appears to be down, so when it comes back just remember to vote! New PDQ went up Monday. If Top Web Comics being down forces you to miss the PDQ, don’t worry, it’ll be available in the Extras section soon.
We’re doing some site redesign over the next week or three, adding some more features and other happy things, so keep an eye out for them.
On a real-world note, Some of you may know I live in Northern California, where there are hundreds of wildfires burning at the moment. Fear not, Webmonkey Ben and I are fine, and aside from some burning eyes and a high level of smoke in the air, we’re perfectly safe and sound.
Oh yeah, check out my Deviantart account! Over there to the right are my most recent pieces.
Another holiday here for you all, and this one is a shout out to my own dad.
People always talk rather abstractly about how they have “special relationships” with their own figures. That some kind of bond exists between the parent and child that no one can really break. Well, without trying to be to cliche, I must admit that I, too have a special relationship. It’s not something that I can really explain (I don’t know if anyone really can) and it goes beyond love and respect.
Dad, you’ve always been an inspiration, someone I’ve looked up to my entire life. To me, you’re far more than a role model, an authority figure, the know-all, see-all, wise master of all he surveys… Yes, far more than all of that. You’re my dad.
Happy dad’s day. Thanks for supporting me in all my crazy ideas, picking me up and dusting me off when I’ve fallen down, and being there every time I’ve needed you.
I love doing these little gag-a-day strips. They’re fun to write, and a challenge to boil the joke down into the limited space here. The story arcs I write are a lot of fun as well, but for entirely different reasons. I’ll go into that some other time, I think. The hardest part of posting these little one-offs is that I have to constantly fight an urge to expand on them.
This is, of course, why I started the PDQs. Not only do they help satisfy my need to write longer and more involved comics, but they also have a more raw art style to them, and they let me explore deeper ideas than these little strips do. That isn’t to say that I view HHFM as less communicative, rather I view it as a very tight little package, a capsule of humor to lighten your day and relieve stress, which is something I don’t want to intrude on the more involved PDQs.
As always, VOTE! Click here or over on the left, and Thanks so much!
Aleric
P.S.: Oh yeah… This SUNDAY will have an another SPECIAL HOLIDAY COMIC! Be sure to check back then!
And then send it to your dad!
First, the obvious stuff:
OHES NOES! We Have ADVERTS!!
Oh come now, it’s not that bad: HHFM is going to need revenue to keep the site running. Hosting isn’t exactly free, you know. It’s all through Project Wonderful, so if you have an ad or know of anyone who does, there’s new adspace available… and it’s gonna be pretty inexpensive, too!
Next, the not-so-obvious stuff:
Few more changes around here, so don’t be too disconcerted. MOST important… well to me, anyway… is the new TWC button over on the left. Looks kinda like this:
Now it actually has the current rank in the button. Isn’t that just canned awesome?
Ok, well I think it’s neat. Keep in mind: This comic started merely two months ago and had a starting rank in the 3600’s. At the beginning of this month we broke the 200 barrier and stayed there for a week. This is thanks to YOUR voting. Let’s keep it up! I’d love to break the 100 barrier and stay there. I have absolute faith in you, and in this comic. There’s a new PDQ for your viewing pleasure as a thank you.
Oh, and about the PDQ comics: You might be interested to know that I just finished counting, and I’m over a MONTH AHEAD on those, as well! I told you. I’m not going to miss updates.
Lastly, here’s the take away message from all of this: I love you guys. Both the fans that read my comic and send me notes, and the people on my side of the screen who help me bring you Hell Has Found Me. You wouldn’t believe how proud I am of this comic, of the monumental effort that everyone involved has put into HHFM, of the support and encouragement you have all provided me. Thank you so much!
Aleric
P.S.: Oh yeah… This SUNDAY will have an another SPECIAL HOLIDAY COMIC! Be sure to check back then!
And then send it to your dad!
Welcome to our extra super special MOM’S day edition… with COLOR.
(gasp!)
May you all find a moment to tell your mothers how special they all are… and no, I don’t mean ’short yellow bus special’.
To my own mum: Thanks for being there when I needed you, and letting me go when I needed to find my way. The firm hand when needed and the gentle hand when warranted. I will always carry part of you with me, a legacy of wisdom and love.
…and occasionally, a really good laugh.
And yes, you’re at least partially responsible for this comic.
Oh hey, did I mention? Send this comic to your friends, your mothers, your friend’s mothers, your mother’s friends… and then vote.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! a day near and dear to anyone who lives even vaguely close to the United States’ southern border. A day MADE for eating taquitos, burritos, quesadillas, drinking and generally having a good time.
So, HHFM has been around, updating religiously for a whole MONTH! To celebrate, there’s a bunch of cool stuff going on this week, including a double-length comic, an EXTRA-special SUNDAY comic, and a brand-new EXTRAS section up, with a button for it over there on the left. Check it out and go ahead, pick out a banner and add it to your forum signature or website. Use one of the avatars I’ve made. (Some are even previews of upcoming comics… dun dun DUUUNNNN). More extras are coming soon, as soon as I get them done!
See, and here you thought that this was gonna be one of those webcomics that showed up, updated a few times, and then vanished, didn’t you? Admit it, I know you were thinking that. Lemme tell ya folks, I’ve got an update schedule all the way through to JUNE (and growing). I told ya… we gots PLANS.
Finally, HHFM has jumped all the way up to 360 on TWC! Isn’t that fantastic?? Go click on the button and let’s see how high we can get it!
Have a happy and SAFE Cinco de Mayo, everyone. And we’ll see you Wednesday!
