Fanime 2010

Fanime 2010

As many of you may know, I make exclusive event comics and hand them away at each con I go to. Fanime is no different – except for the part where I actually got to hand them away.

Somewhere in between getting copies printed, taken home, put in the box for the event, and taken to Fanime, the stack of photocopies vanished. I tore the house apart twice, searched my car 3 times, the boxes at the table at Fanime twice, and still couldn’t find the buggers.

So I promised the people who came by that I would post this year’s Fanime exclusive comic to the website.
(then found them under a box that evening).

So HERE IT IS! The Fanime 2010 exclusive event comic!

You can thank my superb organizational skills.

Travinity 7

Travinity 7

My word how time flies. I promised a WonderCon report, so here it is:

…actually I don’t know where to start. Con was fantastic of course, and there was so much awesome spread around that I almost couldn’t handle it. First of all, I didn’t get to go to any panels, but that was alleviated by being just down the aisle from Stan Sakai of Usagi Yojimbo and J. Scott Campbell of Spiderman and Gen13 fame. Also ran into David Peterson of Mouse Guard… and with that, I’ll stop dropping names… (except for Carrie Fisher shopping the Katgirl’s booth, seeing Mark Hammil, Adam Baldwin (from Chuck), Erin Gray (Col. Dearing from Buck Rogers) and Felicia Day (Codex from The Guild).

Yeah… I’m a geek.

So besides seriously getting my geek on, I handed out 1000 con-exclusive comics, sold a couple T-shirts and a few buttons! Best of all I ran into some old friends like Brian Kolm and Mike Gray who just started his webcomic Clumsy Love, but also ran into some new friends like Erin who does Timothy Green, a cute comic about a baby sea turtle, Jules Rivera who does Marsh Rocket and Elisa, who does Imp, the comic.

I’ll be uploading some pics later, but that’s the core of it. Wondercon was really a great experience, and I’m chomping at the bit to go to my next big con.

Take care, everyone! See you back here Friday!

Thwacky: Let’s go

Thwacky: Let’s go

There is always the point in which it seems like it’s a good time to leave… I think for Rossi that time passed a while ago.

Hey! Fantastic News! HHFM was mentioned in the local paper! Here’s the direct quote:

“Vancil created an online comic called “Hell Has Found Me” and was looking to pick up some ideas.”

(not exactly what I said, but close enough, lol)

Ok, Ok, so it’s just a little line, but I’M really excited. Here’s the full article: Aleric and Friends at SuperCon! Go ahead and share! Then send your friends a link to HHFM!

Two reminders before I stop talking your ear off:

1. I will be at the San Jose Convention Center this coming weekend for Fanime 2008, and I’ll be there harassing people with a free copy of a (special edition) HHFM comic, and willing to draw sketches and chat with anyone who wants to drop in and say Hi!

2. Remember to Vote for HHFM on Top Web Comics. New PDQ comic today! Have fun!

See you Wednesday!

First Raid: Best Intentions

First Raid: Best Intentions

Now that the raid’s done, I’m sure Rossi thought he’d get some real adventuring done. If you look closely, you might notice one gigantic glaring error. Ok more like a small bespectacled one. One of my readers called me on the continuity issue: (paraphrased to protect the innocent)

gnome…. from where?

Did I miss the comic where he shows up? wtf?

More More More HHFM!

-Jenn

Thanks for pointing that out, Jenn. To be honest, I pulled a comic or two out of the current arc, because I wanted to expand on it more later, but because I’m already working so far ahead of schedule, I totally forgot that I included that little guy standing next to Rossi…

Consequently, we’ve got our first serious continuity error. Congratulations Jenn, you win a gold star for the day! And thanks for the encouragement, I love hearing that people want more!

I know I mentioned that lots of changes are coming to HHFM’s site, and I’m sure you’ve all been terribly disappointed that you actually haven’t seen much change. Let me be the first to tell you that there have actually been a lot of changes… they just happen to be behind the curtain, under the hood, what have you. Trust me, there’s more website and content to come. I do promise you that, so stay tuned.

Finally, HHFM is currently hovering somewhere around 525 on Top Web Comics. Please remember to vote! I loves me mah voterz! You get free jokes and images when you vote. Really! So please remember to clicky the linky, then go tell a friend to read HHFM. It shouldn’t be painful. I have yet to break a finger clicking a link.

First Raid: What Graveyard?

First Raid: What Graveyard?

First time I ever went on a raid in World of Warcraft, I was terrified that it would adversely affect my character. I was so new to MMOs that I barely had any idea what I was doing. Turned out that pvp was thrilling, challenging, and frustrating all at once.

Poor Rossi. I think he’s about to learn the frustrating part.

On a much more interesting note, some of you might know of my Deviantart account, and if you follow it at all you might have noticed that a couple of my speedpaintings were included in the collection of quality art in this news post. Now I know it’s not the Louvre, but I feel incredibly excited and honored to be featured with so many other fine pieces of art, so Thank You, Inqy!!

Lastly, thanks to all of my readers who voted for HHFM on Top Web Comics! We went from below #3700 up to the mid 700s in just a couple of days! So go get some of your friends, get them to read Hell Has Found Me, and then click the vote button on the left sidebar.

See you all Monday!

First Raid: Ready

First Raid: Ready

I’m Scott Aleric, the writer, artist, and all-around creator of this webcomic. I hope you’ll enjoy reading this comic as much as I enjoy making it! It takes a lot of effort to get a comic up and running, and I’d like to thank a few of the people that helped me get to this point…

Thanks to:

Mom and Dad. Thanks for your support and encouragement, and your bottomless well of tolerance for all my bad jokes over the years.

My sisters. Humor begets humor, and I wouldn’t be inflicting my wit on the rest of the world if you didn’t laugh at me first (or were you laughing with me?).

Ben, my Web Guru. Your input and insights are matched only by your genius. Yeah, I know. It’s easy to impress me. Don’t be so modest.

My Girlfriend, who puts up with me, even though I torture her with the WURST PUNCHLINES EVAR (even worse than the family had to put up with).

There are hundreds of other people I’d love to mention here, but I’m sure you’d get tired of reading a list of names pretty quick, so we’ll just stop there. Suffice it to say, humorists take inspiration where it strikes them. Consequently, the entire world is their inspiration… So really, thank YOU.

Hell Has Found Me was originally conceived as a comic about two characters as they explored and played World of Warcraft. As I wrote and explored the characters, I learned that their universe encompassed more than just the algorithm-laden, animated-pixelated-scripted world that WoW represents. So sit back and enjoy as James, Rossi and the rest of the gang explore their world, and maybe, just maybe, laugh now and then.
