Well, happy post-Father’s day – I hope you all took some time to show him some appreciation. My family got together and took him to see the latest Karate Kid film with Jaden Smith.
All in all, it was a good film – If you knew what to look for, you could see a lot of Will Smith in his son’s acting and general behavior. Then there was the many, many references back to the original Karate Kid. And of course, the decent plot, the good acting – all in all, well done.
The other thing that ate my time this weekend was watching these on youtube…
ZOMG HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HHFM!
Oh, and happy Wondercon too. /rolls eyes
There’s lots of news, but we’ll start with the IMPORTANT stuff first… You know, the Caption Contest!
This year, I’m giving away the new I [heart] Seamonsters tshirt in the winner’s size, plus the five buttons, and a guest appearance in a future HHFM comic!
Why so generous with the prizes, you ask? Because I’m opening it to Wondercon goers as well.
So, without further, ado, here is the captionless comic!
Get those entries in ASAP! Contest ends on Friday, April 9th, and I’ll post the winner’s comic and a number of runner-ups the following Monday.
In other news, I know that last year I promised a few things that I didn’t exactly follow through on. This year, I can tell you we’re upgrading to that Web 2.0… you know that whole bit where you, the reader, and I, the cartoonist, interact more directly? Yeah. Totally happening.
I can tell you that’s a certainty, because we’re almost ready to deploy it.
That means more cool things for you to poke at, more background, more archives, the ability to comment on a comic, and much, much more.
This r srs bizness, yo.
I’ll have a con report for you sometime after Wondercon. In the mean time, if you can, drop by the Lost Graphics/Katgirl Studio table AA41
We’re right here:
(Sorry for the late update, folks! I missed it because I was a dork and didn’t send the files to Webmonkey Ben. Click back one to see yesterday’s comic)
And that’s the end of this Christmas special! I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it.
This storyline seemed much cleaner, much tighter, more focused than the storyline from this summer. I’d have to say that it’s because this summer, I had a general idea and went with it (much like the first Christmas special), while this year, I wrote the plot down and stuck to it.
Really goes to show what putting a little work into the story can actually do.
Here are a couple of scans of some thumbs I did… this was after I had written out the overall plot. I did most of the scripting at this stage.

So the regular comic schedule resumes Monday, and I’ll be restarting the PDQs around the same time (probably Tuesdays… I hadn’t fully decided when I wrote this post.) That said, I’m off to drive myself nuts for another year, working hard on too many projects and just not finishing enough of them, as always
See you Monday!
Revenge of the TEXT WALL!
I promise there won’t be any more huge text walls after today. The story ends FRIDAY! ZOMG! I’ll also be posting my thoughts and some extra stuff, too.
Today, I’m back at work, shufflin’ papers and earnin’ money. I bet a lot of you are as well.
This year, I want to upgrade HHFM to the web 2.0 you-can-interact-with-me-too kind of site. The Christmas (hah!) Holiday special is winding down, and I’ve gotten a few emails from some of you who love the toned style. I like it too, and it’s surprisingly easy… expect to see more of them soon.
I’m also working on setting up a regular ustream channel with regular broadcasting times! O.o
2010 will be the wonderful beginning of a fantastic new decade. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I think you may be right…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
For those who haven’t heard, My script ran over a little bit into January. Don’t worry though, it’s all winding down and we’ll have a conclusion shortly!
I hope you’ve enjoyed Hell Has Found Me so far, and I’m looking forward to another year of producing entertaining comics for you all.
More soon!
