OMG! It’s the return of HHFM’s WTFs!
I realized today that drawing large cards similar to what I’m doing with Zombots essentially means I’m doing another set of full-page comics in addition to everything else I’m doing.
Which is MADNESS.
Sooo… I feel a bit more inclined towards the little gag-cards, fun portraits or ideas that are cute or funny enough to record, but not fantastic enough to make it into a whole comic all by itself. I threw a few out there some time ago and called them HHFM WTFs. However, as with all things that are started with no ultimate direction, the idea kind of got lost.
Now, I’m returning to the WTF idea; and I’ll be adding them to the collection of original art I’ll have at future cons.
Or, you could download the scans so you can occasionally be reminded of when Hell Has Found…You.
Went to APE this weekend – not as an exhibitor, but as a patron – very refreshing to see a con from the outside.
I talked to Travis Hanson of the Bean and along with giving me a great sketch, he also gave me a great deal of good advice; among them is this; posting additional art along with the the blog posts.
This bit of art I drew as a donation to the Cartoon Art Museum, a small contribution to help keep them up and running. If you’re in San Francisco or are going to visit sometime, you should take the time to check it out.
So in the coming months, expect to see more general art here and over at Zombots. And if you see something you like, let me know in comments!
*thanks to reader Lloyd for pointing out a link was broken!
As many of you may know, I make exclusive event comics and hand them away at each con I go to. Fanime is no different – except for the part where I actually got to hand them away.
Somewhere in between getting copies printed, taken home, put in the box for the event, and taken to Fanime, the stack of photocopies vanished. I tore the house apart twice, searched my car 3 times, the boxes at the table at Fanime twice, and still couldn’t find the buggers.
So I promised the people who came by that I would post this year’s Fanime exclusive comic to the website.
(then found them under a box that evening).
So HERE IT IS! The Fanime 2010 exclusive event comic!
You can thank my superb organizational skills.
Hey, look! More content!
So if you haven’t read the announcement at the top, you probably don’t know that the Katgirl and I are at Fanime this weekend, from Friday through Monday. We will be in Artist’s Alley at tables 205 and 206 while the hall is open.
We do have a few things we’re doing you might be interested in:
I am hosting a panel with Barry Smith and Erin Milligan:
Q & A with Webcartoonists – Saturday morning May 29th at 10am in Panel room 3.
Kat and I will be having a DeviantART meet and greet:
Panel room 1 on Sunday May 30th at 10pm.
Come and visit! Say hey!
We will also be debuting our new T-shirt designs at Fanime!
Here’s one of them…
So the public has spoken, and between the people who voted on my DA account and those who emailed me their votes, we have determined a winner!
So over the next couple weeks, we should see a couple guest appearances (the people who won at the cons, and the grand prize winner) in the comic. Thanks to everyone who submitted, the whole thing was a great deal of fun and we’ll do it again NEXT year!
ZOMG HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HHFM!
Oh, and happy Wondercon too. /rolls eyes
There’s lots of news, but we’ll start with the IMPORTANT stuff first… You know, the Caption Contest!
This year, I’m giving away the new I [heart] Seamonsters tshirt in the winner’s size, plus the five buttons, and a guest appearance in a future HHFM comic!
Why so generous with the prizes, you ask? Because I’m opening it to Wondercon goers as well.
So, without further, ado, here is the captionless comic!
Get those entries in ASAP! Contest ends on Friday, April 9th, and I’ll post the winner’s comic and a number of runner-ups the following Monday.
In other news, I know that last year I promised a few things that I didn’t exactly follow through on. This year, I can tell you we’re upgrading to that Web 2.0… you know that whole bit where you, the reader, and I, the cartoonist, interact more directly? Yeah. Totally happening.
I can tell you that’s a certainty, because we’re almost ready to deploy it.
That means more cool things for you to poke at, more background, more archives, the ability to comment on a comic, and much, much more.
This r srs bizness, yo.
I’ll have a con report for you sometime after Wondercon. In the mean time, if you can, drop by the Lost Graphics/Katgirl Studio table AA41
We’re right here:
It’s Filler Week!
A fan commented recently that they just finished reading the entire archive and told me, “it’s really interesting to see how the art progresses!” So I thought it would be neat to put it all in one place, to show how the art actually has progressed. I even updated the comic into the current style.
Comics return Monday – with an actual buffer now and much better prepared for Wondercon! GLEE!
