Hey folks! Hope you all had a good weekend, I certainly did. A friend of mine got married, met a number of really cool people through there (Hi, Mimi!), great conversations (we have to to it again soon, Ryan!) and spent a raft of money on books – (all the Borders are closing). Picked up an awesome classic Warhound Titan (not that I expect you to know what that’s all about.
Anyway. Talk to you all again Wednesday!
Hey folks, you might want to run over to Zombots, we’re trying something a little new over there…
HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY!!
I suppose I’m letting this one go by with a little less fanfare than my previous years. Perhaps I’m hitting a bit of a slump, or maybe I’m just so busy that I’m having a hard time doing more than just making with the funny.
As I do every year (whether it’s visible to you or not) around this time, I tend to wax a little philosophical, looking at what I’ve done, where I’m at and so forth. This year is 25% finished already and I’ve decided it’s a better year than the previous ones. KatGirl Studio is going well and getting into publishing along with her illustrations. I’m working as an editor on the side of all the comics I’ve been putting out, not to mention holding down my day job. Then of course, there’s all my own personal hobbies that I’ve been trying to keep up with.
Zombots weighs heavily on me, in all honesty, it’s more work than I anticipated, and I’m not super-pleased with the pages I’ve produced. I’m definitely not quitting, it’s just difficult to put work out there that I’m not happy with. Therefore I need to figure something out, but that’s a discussion for another time and place.
So really, where does this leave me? HHFM really needs to get a bigger following and generating some revenue – so I need to get off my duff and figure something out for that. I’ve got a few ideas, but at this point, I need to carve the time from somewhere to be able to do it.
Stay tuned, folks. I’m not out of the game yet.
Happy Year 4.
And thus it comes to the end of this tale.
In other news, Katgirl Studio has just Kickstarted her new novel! She needs your help to get her book off the ground. If you become a supporter, no money is actually spend unless the project reaches “fully funded” and then you get thank you gifts based on your level of support!
For more information, you can head over to the Katgirl’s Publishing website or over to her blog!
Go forth and support cool creative people!
Finally, I’m going to give you a bit of extra art!
This bit of fun is for Illustration Friday. This past week, the topic was “Chicken”.
I’m sorry – I just couldn’t resist.
Ok, I’m not really sorry.
You know, I have to admit – while it can be a little taxing for me to keep to my comic production schedule, I think the hardest part is to actually come up with the REST of the content I feel I should be creating -
Blog posts, additional art, etc. I mean, I COULD just blab away endlessly about anything that comes into my head, and to some extent, that’s good to do. On the other hand, I feel that with so many voices out there on the internet, just one more nattering voice is the last thing that the world needs. To that end, I feel it’s important for me to actually say *something*.
I suppose that when looking at the wide range of comics online, there is such a vast range of people that just about anything I say will be acceptable – From Tatsuya Ishida’s Sinfest where you’re lucky if he adds to the blog once per year, to Penny Arcade where they write an editorial every other day in addition to their thrice-weekly strip.
I guess it really comes down to this being one more place that I need to stretch myself – push myself to actually add content and reach out to the wider world – two things I’m not particularly good at.
Here’s to a new year.
